Cool Rochester Kickoff Event
Help save one billion pounds of CO2 emissions by the end of 2012. Public meeting on June 24, 2009
Cool Rochester is a community group working with the City of Rochester to take action against climate change.
Cool Rochester would like to engage 100,000 people (40,000 households) in the Rochester area to reduce their annual carbon footprint by 10,000 pounds per household (a total annual reduction of 400 million pounds—200,000 tons—of CO2.) Over a three year-period this will reduce the carbon footprint of the Rochester, NY area by over 1 billion pounds or 500,000 tons of CO2. This will be 10% reduction of residential CO2 emissions.
Public meeting purpose
- Vision and program review.
- Match of potential volunteers with needs and tasks.
- Enlisting of participants to try out a pilot version of the program this summer.
