In their own words

It took a bit of planning but was very rewarding monetarily and in spirit! I will be continuing at least 90 percent of the efforts and look for some other ways to save. Thanks for the opportunity to become more aware of what I can control!

Tough week to bicycle given the weather. I would have ridden much more if the weather had been better.

I will continue to commute by bike to work, rain or shine, 25 miles per day. It feels right! Thank you for this annual reminder of what we can do together as a community.

I guess I did better than I thought I would. I do try to get people to think of carpooling to meetings and events.

Fortunately I commute by bike all year so had my rain gear beforehand! This would have been a miserable week to jump in without preparation. Congratulations to everybody who braved the rain!

Thank you for all your time and dedication to this exercise in awareness.

It would be nice to see more people participate. How could this be broadcast a little more?

Great program! Maybe this should be extended from “two weeks per year” to “every week, ongoing” just as the change in our transportation habits which you are trying to foster should be! Enough said — I’m on my way out the door to hop on my bike and ride to work!

I love that Brighton does this and we try to do this all the time. The week before, when there was no rain, I walked to work and back 3 of 5 days. It is great that things are so accessible from where we live. Keep it up

I normally bike to work nearly every day but the weather was a significant deterrent during this particular week. By comparison the following week I biked all five days reducing my car use by 50 miles.

Although I didn’t save as many miles as I had hoped to save throughout the week, the Curb Your Car Week got me into the habit of biking to school as often as possible. If not for this event I probably would’ve just kept driving as I usually do.

Last spring we did better then curb our car, we took one car off the road entirely. We always trip combine our errands, and tricked out our bikes with bags so we and do local errands, when it’s not pouring rain :) and we keep a very accurate calendar so we don’t have trip conflicts.
